About Color Connect
Color Connect is a flow puzzle played on a square grid dotted with pairs of colored squares. You draw a path from each square to its twin, and the twist is that you have to connect every pair while covering the entire board, with no two paths ever crossing.
It's the kind of puzzle that looks obvious and then quietly isn't. Getting two dots joined is easy; getting all of them joined so that every single cell is filled takes planning, because a greedy path in one corner leaves no room for another. Every level is generated to be solvable and to fill completely, so there's always a clean answer to find.
You can play Color Connect free in your browser with no download. It reads instantly โ drag a color to its match โ and the challenge grows as the grid climbs from a gentle 5ร5 up to a dense 8ร8 with more colors to route.
Controls
You play by dragging paths. Press on a colored square and drag toward its matching square โ with your finger on a phone, or a held mouse button on a laptop โ and a line follows your pointer through the cells.
Two rules shape every level:
- Drawing a path connects a matching pair. Drag from one colored square, through empty cells, to its twin. Drag back over your own path to shorten it, or start again from a square to redraw.
- No crossing, full fill is how you win. Paths can't overlap, and every cell must be covered. Drawing over another color erases that color's line, so plan the routes to share the board.
The counters track your progress: Lines shows how many pairs are joined, Fill shows how much of the board is covered, and Moves counts your path draws.
Reset clears your paths and restarts the current board; New deals a fresh layout. A level is complete only when all pairs are connected and the board is one hundred percent filled, and the grid and color count rise across eight levels.
Tips
- Start in the corners. Corner cells can only be reached one or two ways, so paths that must pass through them are often forced, giving you fixed points to build the rest of the solution around.
- Fill, don't just connect. The shortest line between two dots usually isn't the answer, because you need every cell covered. Think about which color should take the long way around to mop up empty space.
- Follow the edges. Cells along the border have fewer neighbors, so tracing paths along the walls first tends to lock in large parts of the layout before you tackle the open middle.
- Redraw freely. There's no penalty for restarting a color, so if a path boxes you in, drag it again from its square and try a different route rather than fighting the whole board.
- Leave room for everyone. If one color sprawls across the center, another pair can get stranded. Keep paths compact where you can so every color has a way home.
- Aim for fewer moves. Once you can solve a level, try to do it in fewer path draws by planning each color's route before you start dragging rather than trial and error.
Frequently asked questions
Is Color Connect free to play?
Yes. You can play as many levels as you want with no download and no account.
How do you play Color Connect?
You drag a line from each colored square to its matching square. To finish a level you must connect every pair and cover the entire grid, without any path crossing another.
Do I have to fill the whole board?
Yes. Connecting all the pairs isn't enough on its own โ every cell has to be covered by a path. That's what makes it a puzzle rather than just joining dots.
What happens if paths cross?
Paths can't overlap. If you drag one color over another color's line, it erases the part of the other line it runs over, so you'll need to redraw that color a different way.
Can I play Color Connect on my phone?
Yes. It's built for touch, so you just drag between squares with your finger. It works well on phones and tablets in any modern browser.
How do I get better at Color Connect?
Work from the corners and edges inward, remember that you need to fill every cell rather than take the shortest route, and don't be afraid to redraw a color that leaves another pair with no path.
