- Follow up with common consonants. Letters like R, S, T, N, and L appear in a huge share of English words, so guessing them after the vowels is far more likely to land than picking rare letters.
- Use the word's length as a clue. The number of blanks narrows the possibilities, and once a few letters are in, the length often points to just a handful of words it could be.
- Think about letter patterns. Once you have some letters, look at common combinations. A blank before 'ING' or a double letter in the middle can hand you the rest of the word.
- Save risky letters for when you are confident. Rare letters like Q, Z, and X are usually wrong, so avoid gambling on them early while you still have a picture of the word to build.
- Read the revealed letters as a whole. Instead of guessing letter by letter, pause and try to see the emerging word. Often you will recognize it before it is complete and can finish it safely.
