About Gin Rummy

Gin Rummy is a two-player card game where you arrange a hand of ten cards to minimize your deadwood, the cards that don't fit into a set of matching ranks or a run of consecutive cards in one suit. Invented in 1909 as a faster form of rummy, it became the classic thinking player's card game for two.

Each turn you draw and discard, gradually shaping your hand while watching what the computer picks up and throws away. There's no meld to lay down and no table to manage: the game quietly scores your hand behind the scenes, and you just try to keep your deadwood low. Knocking to end the hand early is a bet on your read of the opponent, since misjudging it lets them undercut you.

You can play Gin Rummy free in your browser against the computer, with no download. The basics of drawing and melding are quick to learn, and the deeper game of tracking discards and timing your knock rewards attention. It's a satisfying blend of luck and careful reading.
